The positions of women and marginalized groups have become important subjects in contemporary art representations. It cannot be separated from the realities of a patriarchic culture pervasive in modern art history, which gives precedence to male, white, middle-class artists. Identity politics as a contemporary art theme questions and criticized identity constructs as found in modern society. Generally, a given construct is formed by or comes from the dominant majority.
